Privacy is always a concern when it comes to apps. Although you have the power to choose what permission to give to an app before using it, they can still use other essential sensors to take in information. For example, the app can read your Android’s gyroscope data and use it as a keylogger, or the light sensor can be used to know all about the links you’ve visited. Fortunately, this has changed on Android 10. Now, you can have complete control over what permission the apps have and what sensors it can use. Here’s how to turn off all sensors on Android 10.

Turn off all sensors on Android 10

It is a simple procedure. All you have to do is get access to a hidden quick setting tile on Android 10. This tile, when tapped, will disable all the available sensors instantly. Tap on it and all the sensors including proximity sensor, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, will stop and won’t record any information. Follow the steps below to turn off all sensors on Android 10.

Step 1: Enable Developer Options

First and foremost, you have to enable the hidden Developer Options if you haven’t already. On your Android 10 device, go to Settings, and then scroll to the bottom. Then tap on About Phone.

When inside, find the Build number and tap on it 7 times. You will get a toast saying that you are now a developer. When asked, type your PIN. The hidden Developer Options is now unlocked. You will find this option on the system settings menu.

Step 2: Enable Sensor Toggle

Now its time to unlock the sensor toggle. For this, you need to get into Developer Options that you previously unlocked. Go to Settings > System > Advanced and then select Developer Options. When inside Developer Options, search for Quick Settings Developer Tiles. Tap on the toggle beside Sensors Off. This will add a new time on the Quick Settings.

Now go ahead and tap on the new quick settings tile. As soon as you tap on it, it will disable the device’s proximity sensor, compass, gyroscope, accelerometer, and all the other sensors. Note that WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS will not be affected by this tile as they have their own toggles. Turning off all the sensors may affect the function of certain apps that rely on these sensors to work properly.
