HTC has recently launched a new smartphone especially targeted for selfie lovers- the HTC Desire 826, with an ultrapixel front camera in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is currently ongoing in Las Vegas, USA.

The HTC Desire 826 does not stand so high in case of the other specs though, like the devices coming under the Desire lineup. It features a 5.5-inches Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) capacitive display, which has a pixel density of 401 ppi. The handset is sleek, having dimensions of 158 x 77.5 x 7.9 mm and it weighs just 183 grams. The phone will have 16 GB of internal memory with 2 GB of RAM and with an option of expandable storage option via microSD card upto 128 GB. For the processing power, there will be Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset, compiled with Quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU, and Adreno 405 GPU for gaming and graphics. For the photography and videography options, this smartphone will have a 13 MP primary camera with autofocus and LED Flash which can capture videos upto 1080p @ 30 fps, and a 4 MP ultrapixels secondary camera for video calls and selfies. The juice will be provided by a Non-removable Li-Po 2600 mAh battery. For the connectivity options, there will be LTE support, microUSB v2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi. The phone will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system out of box with HTC’s Sense UI over it, and we can’t say anything about the future updates. The phone will be available in only two color options- Meridian Gray and White.

The chipset in this device is 64-bit, and other interesting features of this phone include HTC BoomSound (with Dolby Audio included) as well as HTC EYE Experience, a software suite that lets you optimise your phone’s camera. This phone is also the first device under the Desire series to run Lollipop out of box, as well as to have an ultrapixels front camera. The device’s features are somewhat similar to the previously released HTC Desire Eye, with some minor changes. The HTC Desire 826 is already listed on the HTC US site, but we can’t say anything yet about its availability. The handset is sure to launch in China and other Asian markets, probably later this month.
