The Huawei Ascend Mate 7, which was announced back in IFA 2014, is one of the best smartphones of 2014, and now a new version of this beast has gone official- the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Monarch Edition. With some slight changes in specs, this comes with an added storage capacity.

The handset has Sapphire Crystal Glass and Oleophobic coating in its 6-inches Full HD display, instead of the Corning Glass 3 in the main version. This phone comes with 64 GB of internal storage, and has a 3 GB RAM (the past one with 3 GB RAM had 32 GB storage, and 2 GB RAM version had 16 GB storage). This will have an option of expandable storage via microSD card, which supports upto 128 GB. The microSD card slot can also be used as a nano-SIM slot, which allows users to use it as either a dual-SIM device, or expand the storage, depending on their preference. The rest of the specs are same, main of which are HiSilicon Kirin 925 Octa-core processor, a solid and rightly placed fingerprint sensor, 13 MP Rear/5 MP front camera, a 4100 mAh non-removable battery and full metal unibody design. This phone will be available in Amber Gold color only in the market.

Available only in China as of now, the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Monarch Edition will cost $710 (CNY 4399), which is $110 more than the original price of $600 (CNY 3699). The company gives a special VIP card, which grants you 1 hour quick repair in case anything happens to the phone as well as a bottle of the fancy Mossel wine. The sad thing about this phone is that it does not have the latest version of Android (even though it has been a couple of months of since its release), and uses the Android 4.4 KitKat with Huawei Emotion UI 3.0 over it. We don’t know anything about it getting the Lollipop update, but we will post if we get any information.
