If you prefer to use Yahoo Mail but your contacts are in Gmail, AOL, or Outlook.com, use these directions to import the names and addresses.

What to Know

  • In the Contacts tab, go to More > Import from another account.Click Import next to the appropriate email provider.Log in as prompted and grant permission to access the account.

Import Contacts to Yahoo Mail From Gmail, Outlook.Com, AOL, or Another Yahoo Account

To import your address book from Gmail, Outlook.com, AOL, or a different Yahoo Mail account into Yahoo Mail:

Yahoo Mail no longer supports importing contacts from Facebook.

  • Select the Contacts icon in the upper-right corner of the Yahoo Mail screen.
  • Select the More icon (the three dots), and then choose Import from another account.
  • You can also reach this page by going to Settings > More Settings > Contacts.
  • To import contacts from Gmail, Outlook.com, AOL, or a different Yahoo Mail account, click the Import link next to the appropriate email provider.
  • Enter your login credentials for the account you selected.
  • When prompted, grant permission to Yahoo to access the other account.
  • Contacts that contain special characters, such as dashes or accent marks, cause an import to fail. The solution is to remove the special characters.
