Aligning with the announcement of a new Windows 10 preview roll out, Apple is releasing on July 9th, the public beta of OS X “El Capitan”. According to the company, this is a pre-release version of the operating system meant testers that have been waiting to try out El Capitan, which will be a free upgrade for users later this fall.
Similar to the Microsoft’s Windows Insider program, those who wish to test the new public beta need to register as an OS X Beta Program member before accessing the download files. You can complete your enrollment here.
Apple is known to release a version of its operating system through the OS X Developer Program and then through the OS X Beta Program, and while in the past public betas of the Mac OS X were not updated as often as the version for developers, now it seems that things are about change. On July 8th, the company released its third developer beta (OS X 10.11 El Capitan) and it’s likely that Apple will continue to roll out new builds every two weeks until the fall when it releases the final version to users.
“El Capitan” will also include a mechanism for users to submit feedback and to report issues. For those jumping to the public beta of the operating system will also be able to install the final version when El Capitan launches later this fall.
