On March 8th, Microsoft begins the roll out new firmware updates for Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book. These are minor updates, and they’re intended to improve the overall system stability and performance of the devices.

Surface Pro 4 is getting various updates to improve storage performance, startup stability, and there is a new driver update for the display panel.

On the other hand, Surface Book is getting a number of updates to improve storage performance, battery life during sleep, and power utilization for the Surface USB hub. In addition, this device is receiving a new update for the NVidia GeForce GTX 965M driver.

March 2017 Surface Pro 4 firmware update

  • Surface UEFI: 106.1427.768.0 improves system stability and performance.
  • Surface Display driver: 1.0.6.1 updates the display panel driver.
  • Surface NVM Express Controller: 11.0.0.1 improves storage performance.
  • Intel Management Engine Interface: 11.6.0.1042 improves system stability on startup.

March 2017 Surface Studio firmware update

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M: 21.21.13.7667 improves system stability.
  • Surface UEFI: 90.1427.768.0 UEFI improves system stability and performance.
  • Surface NVM Express Controller: 11.0.0.1 improves storage performance.
  • Intel Management Engine Interface: 11.6.0.1042 improves system stability on startup.
  • Surface Integration: 1.1.328.0 improves battery life during sleep.
  • Surface Integration Service Device: 1.0.241.0 improves device stability.
  • Surface USB Hub Firmware Update: 1.0.519.0 improves stability and power utilization of the USB hub in the device base.

The Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book March 2017 firmware update is available immediately. The new update will download and install automatically, but you can always force the update from Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and clicking the Check for updates button.
