Microsoft announced the new Surface Pro 8 during its Microsoft Surface Event on Wednesday.

The company says the Surface Pro 8 is the “most powerful Pro” it’s ever built. Some key features announced include Intel’s 11th Gen quad-core processors, up to 32GB of RAM, Thunderbolt 4 support, 16 hours of battery life, and Dolby Atmos sound.

Microsoft said the new Surface Pro has 43% more computing power and 75% faster graphic power than the Surface Pro 7. It also has a 13-inch, 120Hz display with thinner bezels than previous Surface generations, including over 5.5 million pixels and Adaptive Color Technology that naturally adjusts to the color temperature of your environment.

A new Surface Slim Pen 2 also comes with the tablet that has a magnetic storage and charging space built into the keyboard. As soon as you pick the pen up, a menu appears on the Surface Pro for the pen. In addition, Microsoft said the Surface Slim Pen 2 has a sharper pen tip that feels more precise and responsive, zero pressure force, and smoother flow and greater control.

The new Surface Pro 8 starts at $1099.99 and is available for pre-order starting Wednesday with a shipping date of October 5.

Microsoft said that the Surface Pro 8 was designed hand-in-hand with Windows 11, so it should work seamlessly with the new Windows 11 features. Some of these include a widget taskbar, a new Start Menu, a redesigned Microsoft Paint and Photos app, the ability to resize windows to take up either half of your screen (called Snap Layouts), and even more. Windows 11 is set to also launch on October 5.
