CES 2012: that’s a wrap for Microsoft! Last night Steve Ballmer, current Microsoft’s CEO, took the stage at the annual International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas with Ryan Seacrest. In the last keynote — that’s right, no more keynotes or booth at CES for this company –, Microsoft didn’t introduce anything new, instead Steve talked about the current line-up of consumer products and how Windows Phone, Xbox and Windows PC, they all come together in a consistent experience through the new Metro style user interface, and made just a few announcements.
Microsoft also made the official introduction of new Windows Phones from Nokia (Lumia 710, Lumia 800, and Lumia 900) in the U.S. and the new HTC Titan II. This being the year for ultrabooks, Microsoft showed new ultra-light, ultra-thin Windows PCs that are coming in 2012 from different partners.
There wasn’t any hints for a new X box coming out any time soon at CES 2012, but the company did say that the console will feature new broadcast content from different TV networks in the U.S.
The software maker also announced the Kinect for Windows that will become available on February 1st at $249.99.
And for anyone who has been using Windows 8 Developer Preview, they should also get ready for Windows 8 Beta, because now the next milestone is officially scheduled to be released in late February and it is going to be available for everyone to download and test.
