Microsoft has been releasing a number of updates for its launcher app on Android, and in its latest update brings Cortana integration, which means that you no longer need to install the assistant separately.
The new integration appears with version 4.6, which is currently available only to testers.
If you’re a beta tester, after installing the newest release, the Cortana icon will appear in the home screen, and tapping it will launch the experience with an overlay popup. Then you can use your voice or onscreen keyboard to interact with Cortana, but currently there’s no access to the Notebook to manage lists or skills.
In addition to the home screen button, you can also access Cortana through its widget in the Microsoft Launcher feed.
Starting with version 4.6, you can use Cortana on Android to make a call, schedule meetings, change wallpaper, Continue on PC or read the latest headlines.
If you’re not a tester, your latest update is version 4.5, which also brings some interesting improvements, including the ability to set wallpapers for home and lock screen (requires Android 7.0+) and organization related features.
The Microsoft Launcher is an app part of the Microsoft’s Garage team, which was originally known as Arrow Launcher, and it’s been getting a lot of popularity among Android users with over 10 million downloads after the name change.
