Today during the E3 Xbox One briefing, Microsoft announced that there is a new Xbox 360 coming. The new video game console has exactly the same specifications like the current version and it doesn’t offer any new features or new hardware. The only thing Microsoft has done is to redesign the box, which now is based on the Xbox One design and it is available now (June 10, 2013) in the US.

The word in the streets is that the new Xbox 360 is smaller and less noisy than the previous version. Immediately you’ll notice that the video game console was inspired by the Xbox One design. The new 360 has a rectangle shape and it will remind you of a big encyclopedia book, it features a glossy and matte finish (60 / 40). And long gone is the big power button, now it’s small and it’s located next to the eject button.

“[We] will continue to be a mainstay in the Xbox lineup for years to come.”

The new Xbox 360 console continue to cost the same as the previous version — $200 US for the 4GB version, $300 for the 250GB edition and $300 for the 4GB console bundled with the Kinect sensor.

As you know Xbox One won’t be backward compatible with Xbox 360 games, but Microsoft has said before that the team is committed on the 360 development for a least another 5 years, and the new console represent this commitment. Not only that, but Microsoft has also said that many new games titles will continue to be released for the console.
